Journal of a Demi-god: Mask of Twilight
A Costume TG Transformation Story by JanusDaGuardian

Pollux, also known to some locals as “the man-in-black”, “black-robed angel”, “creepy mugger”, etc... looked out the window of the small principals office of the rowdy Manhattan high school, counting the number of ticks coming from the nearby clock. Several months had passed since he'd begun to rectify the disturbances in the realms he was entrusted to protect.  The snow was gone, and the frequency of rain in the small corner of the world he now stood in was beginning to lessen. Summer was right around the corner, the sun teasing his bare hands as he gazed onto the streets of the aging metropolis that was New York City.

The door to the office clicked open. Pollux knew who it was, so he didn't turn around.

“You're late, Mr. Washington. Have a seat.”

Jayden Alan Washington was a black teenager of about seventeen late-winters. He was slightly taller than Pollux, the teen's height ranging from 6'2” to 6'4”. He had brown eyes, wore a pair of Echo, denim jeans and an open grey hoodie over a plain, red shirt. Underneath the black beanie on his head, his black hair was cut short, borderline bald.

Jayden sat down in the closest available seat, which was right in front of the principals desk.“Where's Mason?”

“Your principal?”

Pollux finally turned about. “He's been reassigned. So, today, I'm your quote/unquote 'executioner'... Ultimately, the absence of his presence is of little consequence. I'd imagine that you would listen to him about as much as you always do.”

Jayden snorted. “More or less... So, what the hell are you supposed to be? Some punk-ass mugger from the middle-ages or something?”

“No. I'm actually much older than that... but I'm not here to talk about the past. I'm here to talk about the future, Mr. Washington, and from what I've seen so far, your future does not look promising.”

“No shit. You could tell?” Jayden's sarcasm was more than apparent in his tone.

“Although my eyes are keen enough to rival that of the most experienced hunter, I do not judge by mere outward appearances, Mr. Washington. I use a somewhat different method to find eligible people to fulfill the roles I am tasked satisfy.”

Jayden said nothing, but Pollux could hear his right foot tapping on the floor.

“I can see that you are a very impatient man, Mr. Washington. You're a lot like your father in that respect.”

Jayden stopped tapping. “Hell's my father gotta do with this?”

“Your father was a man of ambition... though somewhat misguided. When he first began stealing-- or should I say ' participating in illegal sales practices'--, it was to support his family, including you, your brother, and your mother. However, his ambition soon married greed, and one day, Fate caught up to him, as she does with many who tempt her, and now he's enduring--and will have to endure-- a lifetime of regret for the lives he's destroyed, including his family and those of two law enforcement officers, one leaving a wife and young boy. Based on what I've seen, his tainted ambition has been passed onto his son, a son who both admires and despises his heritage.”

“You trying to accuse me of something, mister?!”

“There's no need to for me to accuse you of anything, Mr. Washington. I could convict you at any given moment. Please look closely at the screen in front of you.”

Pollux pressed a bottom and a projector screen rolled out from above, right in front of Jayden's seat. A moment later, the white screen became filled with multiple video panels, each one showing a separate incident on the street, each one shuffling flawlessly through various camera angles, each one showing what was being exchanged, money, electronic equipment, guns and drugs, each one showing not only his face but the faces of his partners in crime.

Jayden went pale. He had no idea that he and his crew had f***ed up so badly. It was so shocking that he didn't notice how conveniently-set the camera angles were. Some were on the ground looking up at them whilst others seem way overhead looking down on them. Spy satellites could explain the latter. As for the others...

“I could show this to any judge and jury and you and your accomplices would sentenced on the first day, Mr. Washington. The reason I'm here though is because I've seen what you do with that money. In other words, I've seen your true self. Your mother, your younger brother, and your lover. As noble as you think your actions are though, the way you lead your so-called 'private life' will end not only your life but four others in the process. Five, if you count what will happen your son...”

“Son?! I don't have a f***in' son!”

“Wrong! You do! He is but a embryo in your lover's womb just starting to form a brain and spinal cord, but he is yours nonetheless.”

“You've noticed Ms. William's absence, have you not...? The nighttime ritual you two performed together nearly twelve days ago produced the manner of success that you two clearly weren't expecting: In exactly thirty-eight weeks, four days, four hours, and fifty-one minutes, you will become the father of a healthy young infant. An infant who even now has destiny swirling around him. However, his life is in danger... If the future should remain unaltered, his life will be forfeited...”

“'Forfeited'? 'Future'? Just what the hell are you?”

“You will die, Mr. Washington! Tomorrow, at exactly 6:53pm, the planned 'heist of the century' that your compatriots have drawn-up will claim your life as well as the lives of the others. In her grief, Ms. Williams--Mia-- will take the life of your unborn son, the destined child, leaving her to live a long, miserable existence alone. Unfortunately, even if you decide not to go, you will not be able to persuade her to keep the child she is already preparing to destroy... I've come for two things, Mr. Washington. I seek the only thing that will prevent the child's death; a letter of encouragement written by your own hand to the woman who bears the proof of your endless love for her. I also seek your courage to disappear from this world in order to fill the role of a monarch destined to help a certain young man housing a sacred beast to rescue two worlds from a mere puppet and his malevolent master, who is the direct spiritual descendant of Demise himself. This matriarch, who's life and essence was nearly extinguished by someone with ambition that overshadows even your own, is in need an adequate...stand-in.”

Jayden paused. “If I decided to punk-out, I'd be a dead man, and whether what your saying is true or not, I can't go through with it anymore.”

“Remaining here would jeopardize Mia's life as well, and, more importantly, the life of your son. If you chose to live, exile is your only option...”

“Wait a minute. If I punk-out, they'll go after her, too!”

Pollux shook his head. “No, they won't. And even they did, I would not allow them to endanger the life of your wife, nor allow them to endanger your unborn son. Both of them have inherited a role to play in a story that has yet to begin, and I will endeavor to see that it is written.”

“Wife...” Jayden sighed with a wry smile. “If only I could...”

“The letter you write will be sufficient to convey your feelings as long as you allow the words to flow from your mind to your hand--Nay... from your open heart...”

Jayden nodded. “A'ight. Where's my shitty pen and paper?”

Pollux reached into his coat and brought out a worn, brown-leather journal book, the kind with a flap and tie. He opened it and, after flipping through numerous pages, ripped out a blank one and handed both it and one of the principal's pens to Jayden.

Jayden took these with slight hesitation, but he soon set to work writing the kind of final message he wished to convey to his girlfriend. Pollux was pleased with what he saw. When the teenager was nearly finished, Pollux reached into his coat once more, pulling out a thin, black robe containing various patterns of gray, black, and pale-green, some swirly whilst others jagged, along with a even-more intricate black slit skirt...

“A perfect sync," Pollux said. "How do you feel, Mr. Washington?”

Where the taller and somewhat muscular teen once stood was a woman who stood near-even with him. Her skin was pale with a greenish hue. The sclera of her eyes were an other-worldly yellow, her irises a soft scarlet. Her long hair was orange like the dancing flames of a wood fire, part of it secured in a clasp that rested atop her new bosom. Atop her head was a dazzling headdress, which was only made for the leader of the Twili, the race she would soon be charged with.

Jayden, now Midna, frowned. “Like a straight man walking into a gay bar... I didn't think a white man could turn this blue, let alone a black one. The body and clothes are one thing, but the voice? Damn...”

Pollux, his head now bare, smiled. “It's more of a green, but you'll get used to it...”

Midna shook her head.“I seriously doubt that.”

“Are you ready?”

Midna sighed a soft, deeply feminine sigh. “No... but I'll be a'ight...”

With that, Pollux's green eyes began to glow as the surroundings began to blur, becoming obstructed by the wave of light that swept through the room.

“What's his name?” Midna shouted. “I-I mean, what will his name be?”

“Charlie,” Pollux shouted back. “Charlie Jayden!”

“After her father and me, huh?” Midna whispered with a smile. “Sounds just like her...”

In an instant, Midna, Twilight Princess and the chosen leader of the Twili—disappeared from sight, leaving Pollux the room's sole occupant.

“He will be chosen to take up the mantle as the Guardian of Mars when a certain talking cat and an estranged son in the shape of the Senshi of Love and Wisdom come to enlist his aid...”
The long awaited Midna Mask TG. I didn't go for the transformation this time either, but I hope the story more than makes up for it. If not, I'll see about adding a description later on.

Mask of the Stars is up next, which will feature a transformation description on some level as well as some more story behind the main character. It will also be the last of the shorts before the Sailors-to-Suits arc, so it may take a little more time to finish than this one.

Hyrule must've been seriously messed up by this malevolent force.

Indeed. Zelda and Midna? Zelda alone would've created an irrepairable gap in the timeline.

And ZING! with a reference to another of your stories. XD Nice tie in.
In so saying, I have come to realize that said character is not as well described as this one (the father) is.

Another well executed story. Kudos to you.

CJ'll have his turn in the spotlight. Not sure when that'll be, but I'm looking forward to it even more now.

Thanks for the feedback, Uncle-Ben. :)
